Avocados = Yucky

Today Carsten & Amy came over to hang out for a little while.

Carsten helped himself to Eleanora's chair while she played with his Mommy.

They left shortly after the snow started falling, thankfully, because it got pretty nasty pretty fast. After they headed home, I decided to do make Nora's next batch of new food. After making 8 avocados worth of baby food, filling up two ice cube trays and a bowl in the fridge, Eleanora tried her first taste. It did not go well:

After the first bite, lots of nasty faces, spitting, crying, and refusal to open her mouth again (see below)...

I brought out her favorite, apples & bananas. She could not get it in her mouth fast enough:

Much better!

She loves this combo so much, she took the spoon from me after she finished the bowl.

She wanted to get every last bit she could - licked it clean!

I know what you're thinking, why would you buy 8 avocados, puree them and freeze them if you weren't sure she would like them? Well, this is the 5th or 6th veggie/fruit I have introduced. At first I just made 1 or 2 of chosen veggie/fruit, and everytime she has liked it, then I'd have to go to the grocery store, buy more, steam/bake and puree again. What a waste of time. Thus far, she hasn't met a solid she didn't like. Sure, she's given us funny faces, was suspcious of new foods, etc, but she always ended up liking it by the end of the first feeding. So now I always buy enough to fill up at least 2 ice cube trays worth.

So I have a feeling 8 avocados just went to waste. Next week I will buy a vegetable that we actually like too, so if she doesn't, I can make it for dinner for us!

Lesson learned:

This:

= YUCKY! (Mommy agrees Eleanora)

What we've been up to

Bryce went out of town last week to WI for sales calls. I was worried about taking care of Eleanora and Kirby (in case you've never had the pleasure of being mauled by her, she's a little on the hyper side) all by my lonesome, but it went surprisingly well. Turns out, Kirby is only insane when Bryce is home. She was an angel for me! So although it's my least favorite part of Bryce's job, it's good to know that I can hold the fort down without him. Although we missed Bryce, Eleanora and I had a great time. We got to watch girly shows without Bryce making me switch the channel to some game during commercials!

Carsten came over while his parents got their taxes done. He and Eleanora love each other so much! She cries if he leaves playing with her. He's so attentive, too. If she fusses at all, he drops whatever he's doing to go and give her a toy he knows she likes, or try to get her pacifier back in her mouth. It's very sweet.

I love this one ----->

I've been waiting for the day they can sit up and play together. He didn't care much for her when she just laid in my arms & slept. Now that she can interact with him he loves it. He's going to be a great big brother in May!

Last week while Bryce was gone Eleanora's new jumper arrived. She was very uninterested at first, but once she bounced for the first time (in frustration, she wanted the hell out of there), she figured it out. She' been a bouncin' fool ever since.

Once Bryce came home Thursday night, it was business as usual. Bryce doing fantasy baseball stuff while Nora plays on his lap. Lots of keyboard pounding is involved, and this night she became very interested in his hat, so daddy let her try it on.

She's is dying to be mobile! She is getting to the point where she lays on her belly and just flings her limbs around in a desperate attempt to get moving. She doesn't move an inch, thankfully, (not quite ready for crawling yet!) but she is not content to just lay in one spot very much anymore. These are from this afternoon:

That's all I got for now...random cuteness to end the post below.

How cute is she?

Yep,

I started a blog.

This is my second attempt at doing so, let's hope this one lasts longer than the last one. This time if I have nothing to say, I can at least post a picture of Eleanora.

Hopefully this can be a place to keep family & friends updated on her life and fun for us to look back on in the future. So bear with me as I try to hit the ground running with this thing, and learn my way around blogger.
