Here's Bryce right before we left for his surgery,
The procedere was quick, painless and disgusting (they had me in a room with the surgery on the TV, gross). Bryce didn't get too nervous, and I stayed calm myself until Bryce's eye was on a 28 inch screen in front of me being sliced and diced. But when he walked into the room after it was done and he was smiling and happy I was relieved it was over!
Recovery wasn't too bad, either. He had nurse Katie administering his eye drops every hour and never was in any pain- just discomfort and sleepy from meds. By Monday morning it was like nothing had happened (surgery was Friday). Saturday at his post-op his vision was 20/20. On the way out of the surgery he could read street signs! It was remarkable. He is so so so happy with the results. He still reaches for his glasses some mornings and after showers, and his vision fluctuates like they said it would until he's all healed, but it was very much worth it.
Here he is the night of his surgery, he had to wear these silly looking eye protectors for 24 hours,
The day after surgery, after his post op appt,
All this for the low low price of $612! Would have been $5100. Can't pass that up.
(***edit*** For the non family members reading, we got an insane deal b/c my mom works at MN Eye Consultants and this doctor wanted more of this type of surgery under his belt before he left his fellowship so it was available to employees family members at the cost of turning on the laser, $600. We didn't go to some back alley discount surgery place!)
Eleanora was very helpful with Bryce's recovery also. Laying down with him in the living room,
She was very concerned about his eye drops. Here she is trying to help,
After Daddy got his drops, it was time for her baby,
Here's Eleanora reading her Comcast Guide on the way to Ben's First Communion,
"A reading from the book of The Very Hungry Caterpillar..."
And of course I forgot my camera at Travis's first birthday :( Anne? Amy? Anyone got pictures they can send me?
Eleanora had a great time playing with her cousins despite skipping her nap that day!
Eleanora mopping up ice cream from Chili's,
She LOVES to check the mail,
And plop down on the mail landing in the building and start reading the mail,
And make us chase her up the stairs of the building,
And finally (what a long post!), this morning after helping me wash the dishes, she wanted "inside! inside!" the sink.
